/me grins . . . "Ship" is short for "relationship", and refers to a pairing of two (or maybe more, if you're really twisted) in a fandom. Most fandoms usually write the names with a slash in between, such as Lex/Lana, but most fans of SV use blended names for ships, such as Lexana (and Chlark, for Chloe/Clark, my fav ship :D). (A sidenote: The use of the / in writing names of ships is the origin of the word "slash", used to refer to homosexual pairings, even though many pairings are heterosexual.)
