FBI pleasant surprise

So I was watching the latest ep of FBI this past week (which by the way was AWESOME - I loved the scene at the hospital with OA and Maggie!), and suddenly heard the character of Jubal saying this:
"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed…"
I blinked in recognition. And then grinned with delight. I'm not sure how many of the rest of the viewers of the episode actually recognized it, but that's a couple verses from the Bible that I know very well, 2 Corinthians 4:8-9. I grew up with this recording of a folk trio singing it (very lovely guitar). It's more beautiful if you've got the CD release - the recording on Youtube sounds like someone's cassette tape transfer (if anyone wants a good quality mp3 of the track, let me know).
Anyway, I think that added an interesting element to the character of Jubal - how does he know that verse? (It's not like John 3:16, where most people can quote a little bit or say the reference - people usually don't know it unless they've had some real Bible/church involvement at some point.) The show is living up to what they said about it - that we'd get the characters' stories in little bits at a time. I just want to know more now. :D
(Used my Rookie Blue icon for this post because it's still Missy in it, lol. I'm too multifandom to have an icon for every fandom I'm into, alas.)
