Livejournal project
Jan. 11th, 2026 08:11 pmIf anyone hasn't seen this BlueSky post, it basically warns that there are strong signals that Livejournal (at least, the English side of it) may not exist as soon as sometime this year. No guarantees on timeframe.
But that would mean heaps of old fandom lost. So we're archiving that just like with Yahoo Groups, lol. If you're interested in the project, we're collaborating in the Archivers-R-Us Discord server. Plenty to be done, and we can use people to just open links and see if the DW comms linked actually exist (we want to de-prioritize saving comms that have already been imported to DW, but that means we have to check for that).
And if you're really serious, of course, you can always run the archiving tool and download your own journals and communities that way.
